Corbett Systems, a local provider of computer
and Internet technology services, recently helped to complete the
monumental project of making Colorado College (CC) a wireless technology
campus.
“Thanks to strong encouragement and support from President
Richard F. Celeste, CC joined the growing list of wireless college
campuses,” states Steve Dickey, owner of Corbett Systems. “We
worked over the summer months with the college’s systems
engineers to this project to completion.”
According to CC Network Engineer Alan Davis, the assistance and
support of Corbett Systems was critical to getting the project
completed on time. “They were great to work with,” he
states.
The college utilized TigerNet wireless network as an extension
of the existing wired network, rather than a replacement. “TigerNet
will provide greater flexibility in configuring classrooms and
labs and “anywhere” access to information all across
our 90-acre campus,” Davis says.
To secure the wireless network, Corbett used Cisco hardware and
software. “Cisco employs an industry standard called 802.11b
that has integrated system security,” says Dickey. “This
will help to safeguard the network from hackers,”
